About That Hat...

So, about that hat I knit my husband for Christmas.  I mentioned before that I gave it to him and that he wore it everyday.  He loved it!  Leave it up to me to lose it.  UGH!  He had it for less than a week before I lost it somewhere in the house.  To top it off the temperature has been in the single digits the past few days.  Right now, it is 1 degree Fahrenheit and the wind chill is in the negative teens. What's a girl to do?  Well, I'll tell you...knit another hat, that's what!  Andi from Untangling Knots just released a new free men's beanie pattern.

Christmas Knitting

Ahhh, Christmas knitting... A term that always seems to strike knitters with a bout of stress filled anxiety.  This year I finally wised up and limited my Christmas knitting to gifts for my husband.  This way, if I didn't finish them, eh oh well, he would totally understand!  I knit him the hat recipe by the Yarn Harlot from her book "Knitting Rules."

Me modeling the hat pre weaving in the ends

I also decided to finally finish the sweater I had knit for my husband.  Oh god, I just saw the date of my last post for this sweater...have I really been working on it THAT long!?

Sewing the half zip on Christmas Eve morning!

I am happy to report that I did in fact finish both projects in time and my husband loves them both!

On a completely unrelated note, can you believe that it's almost time for another Ravellenic Games?!  Will you be participating?  If so, what team are you planning on joining?

Something Resembling a Sweater

I finally have something that actually resembles a sweater!!  Remember this post about the Seamless Raglan Sweater?  Check it out, it's now more than just a bunch of tubes claiming to be a sweater!

You may be able to see in the first picture that I'm going to put a half zip on the sweater.  After I joined the sleeves to the body, instead of knitting in the round, I turned the knitting when I was at the half way point in the front.  I've also switched from the raglan construction to a yoke construction.  After my husband tried the sweater on, I showed him pictures of raglan and yoke sweaters again.  We also looked at the sweaters that he wears often and decided to go with the yoke.   I'm stoked....yoke construction seems waaaaay easier!

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Back in July, you may remember me blogging about knitting a sweater for my husband.  I ended up deciding on knitting him a raglan sweater.  I'm using Elizabeth Zimmerman's Seamless Raglan Sweater for a pattern since I can customize it the way my husband wants it.  I started knitting the sweater back in July(?), maybe August (?), with the hopes of finishing it for this winter so he can wear it.  HA!  Fat chance!  I should have known myself.  Here is my progress so far:

(Sorry about the pic, for some reason I can't get it to upload the flipped version)

Check out my gorgeous sleeve increases!

My new goal with this sweater is to finish it by next fall.  That's totally doable... My new goal gives me wiggle room for another WIP!  Yay!  What should I start?  Socks?  A spring sweater for myself?  Maybe a baby sweater?  Choices, choices, choices...

Knitting for the men

I've decided to undertake a huge project...knitting for the guy in my life!  After two years of marriage I think my husband is finally worthy of a knit something or other.  He understands the time and effort that goes into knitting, ripping, and knitting again.  Plus he's my baller (shot caller, haha, I couldn't resist...anyone remember that song?), he winds all my yarn into balls, thus, saving me precious knitting time!  So....it's time for a sweater.  Here are some patterns I'm thinking about.

Raglan Sleeved Henley

Hiker

Guston

My husband is super picky (like most men I bet) about his sweaters.  He doesn't want to look old man-ish, but he also isn't super preppy.  So I'm thinking a raglan sweater with a partial button down front.  What do you think?
